Essay On Pollution In 1500+ Words
Hello My Dear Friend, In this post “Essay On Pollution In 1500+ Words“, We will be going to read about Pollution as an Essay in detail. So…
Let’s Start…
Essay On Pollution In 1500+ Words
In the Essay on Pollution, we read about pollution in detail with all its types and aspects. The process of Distortion of the environment is called pollution. It is majorly classified into air, water, and sound pollution.
Pollution is the introduction of pollutants that cause adverse changes in the natural environment. Pollution can take the form of chemicals or energy such as noise, light, or heat.
Pollutants, the pollution components, can either be foreign substances, energy sources, or contaminants that occur naturally.
Pollutant means the contaminants that get introduced into the natural environment, beyond permitted limits and cause deleterious effects to the inhabitants in a visible way.
For, e.g: Smoke from industries and automobiles, chemicals from factories, radioactive substances from nuclear plants, etc.

Humans are in dire need to stop pollution to keep planet Earth livable.
Some of the major effects of pollution can be seen as global warming, the melting of glaciers, the huge reduction in the coastal areas of the southern hemisphere of the earth, chemical poisoning of rivers, spoiling of wells, depletion of groundwater resources, increased risk of disease-related to the respiratory system and disease caused by contaminated water, hypertension, and stress due to incessant sound pollution, etc.
Major causes of pollution in the world today are the insensitive step taken by developed countries for rapid industrialization and the faster growth of their economy.
Their motto to make life modern and luxurious has become the biggest reason for the irresponsible exploitation of resources countries such as Russia, America, China, and many European states are the largest contributors to the carbon footprint in the world.
India is not far behind when it comes to water pollution, as recently 2 out of 5 major resources in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh were completely contaminated due to external pollutants.
Similarly, the Part Per Million (PPM) count of Delhi is so devastating that it has become world-famous as Beijing.
In Nov 2017 India surpassed (Beijing) China. and New Delhi becomes the most polluted city in the world.
As it is said –“Better late than never” Governments have now come on the same page. At least every country looks concerned about the
major issue.
UN’s Development goal is now sustainable development goals but countries need to reduce their carbon footprints as their ideal.
persons also need to play their role only so that this issue can be properly addressed and resolved.
Types of Pollution in Details-(Essay on Pollution)
Types of environmental pollution
- Air Pollution
- Water Pollution
- Soil Pollution
- Noise Pollution
- Radioactive Pollution
- Thermal/Heat Pollution
- E-waste
Air Pollution
It is the most common form of pollution. As society moves towards urbanization air pollution becomes increases.
Therefore, Urbanisation and air Pollution go hand in hand.
Excessive fuel consumption from cooking, transportation, and other industrial activities is the primary reason behind air pollution.
Sulfur dioxide is the most common gas that makes air toxic.
It is produced by burning fossil fuels such as (Coal & oil), and the smelting of mineral ores (Aluminum, Copper, Zinc, Lead, and iron).
The release of sulfur-di-oxide and other greenhouse gases (water vapor, carbon-di-oxide, methane, etc) into the air,
causes global warming and it is also responsible for acid rain.
Water Pollution
Every living being on the earth depends on water for its survival, so water pollution is another major type of pollution.
Industrial influents dump into the river and see. it is the most common way in which water is getting polluted after that massive use of insecticides and pesticides by the agricultural community is polluting the ground as well as the water system.
Oil spills in the ocean by the heavy tanker have caused significant damage to the water bodies.
Washing clothes, and utensils create wastewater. this wastewater releases directly into ponds and lakes which causes heavy water pollution.
The whole point behind all of this is large-scale pollutants are released into the water, it blocks sunlight from penetrating into deep water.
Thus, reduces oxygen for marine life and also changes their composition due to the introduction of a blue form of bacteria, viruses, and other micro-organisms that cause diseases such as cholera and diarrhea.
Soil Pollution
Soil Pollution is also known as land pollution. the most common form of land pollution is the use of insecticides and pesticides.
Overuse of these chemicals can need to the extortion of nitric compounds from the soil, making it unfit for plants to grow.
Other forms of Soil Pollution occur due to
1 dumping of industrial waste
2 Mining
3 Deforestation
The industrial waste can be categorized into three types:-
- Chemical Waste
It includes harmful and dangerous chemicals produced by factories. Government agencies ensure the onsite segregation of chemical waste before disposing of it.
- Solid Waste
It contains a variety of materials, such as paper, cartons, packaging materials, plastics, wood, and scrap metal. these materials can be recycled for reducing overall costs.
- Toxic and Hazardous Waste
It covers hazardous by-product materials produced by factories, farms, laboratories, Construction sites, garages, and hospitals, and certain products and manufacturing.

MINING
It causes erosion, the formation of sinkholes, loss of biodiversity, relocation of the tribal people, contamination of soil, and depletion of groundwater and surface water.
DEFORESTATION
It means cutting trees and clearing the forest area. If trees don’t exist, the soil is loose.
I mean it is the tree that holds soil together. Excessive rainfall can cause landslides and mudslides which result in massive erosion of the soil.
NOISE POLLUTION
An unwanted or excessive sound that affects human and environmental health. According to the WHO, a sound level of less than 70 dB is suitable for living organisms.
Anything more than that will lead to psychological problems such as stress, Permanent hearing impairments hypertension.
Noise Pollution comes from:-
- Industrial noise such as factories, construction sites, etc.
- Non-Industrial Noises such as Transportation, rain traffic, aircraft landing/taking off, Residental cooling and heating system,
household equipment, concerts, festivals, etc.
Radioactive Pollution
Radioactive pollution is the most dangerous pollution because of its permanent effects.
It occurs due to the emission of a proton (alpha particles), Electrons (beta-particles), and Gamma rays (Short wave electromagnetic waves) when they are integrated from the atomic nuclei of some elements.
Radioactivity is an aftereffect of radioactive waste.
Radioactive is categorized into two categories:-
- Ionization Radiation- It has enough energy to remove or break tightly bound electrons from the orbit of an atom causing the atom to become charged or ionized. E.g.: Radioactive Particles, Medical X-rays, Metal wielding. It can cause Mutation, cancer, or tumor.
- Non-Ionisation Radiation- This is electromagnetic radiation that does not carry enough energy to break the atoms and molecules.
Ex: Radio Waves, Micro Waves, or any extremely low-frequency wave.
It can not penetrate deep tissue but can damage the upper skin layer and eyes.
Thermal/Heat Pollution
It is caused by power plants and industrial manufacturers. these industries use water as a coolant.
Water is taken from a natural resource such as a river, pond, etc, for cooling or heating of machines after work water is ejected back into the river or pond.
E-Waste
It is also known as electronic waste. Many electronic devices become garbage when electronic goods are useless. All of these electronic devices contain hazardous substances such as -Mercury, Cadmium, Lead, and Beryllium.
All these chemicals are polluting drinking water and harming ecosystems around the world.
