Look at our society. What is the single most distressing problem our people are facing?

I am genuinely concerned about the state of our society and the difficulties that our people are encountering as a student. While there are many issues that require addressing, inequality stands out as one that is particularly disturbing.

Our society is rife with inequality, which manifests in various ways. Economic imbalance is one of the most obvious manifestations of inequality.

Many people and families experience financial hardship, with marginalised communities being disproportionately affected by poverty and income disparity.

Lack of access to necessities like food, shelter, and healthcare as a result of economic inequality can keep people in a cycle of poverty and prevent them from moving up the social ladder.

Another crucial area where inequality is present is in education. There are still disparities in access to high-quality education, and many children must overcome obstacles such a lack of supplies, underfunded schools, and unfair practises.

This may lead to unequal chances for academic success and restrict people’s ability to prosper and make a positive contribution to society.

The issue of social inequality is also urgent. As a result of systematic inequities and unequal treatment, discrimination on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and other characteristics continues to be a major problem.

Marginalised groups frequently experience bias, prejudice, and discrimination, which can limit their access to opportunities, resources, and representation in a variety of sectors of life.

The effects of inequality also include environmental issues. Vulnerable populations, such as communities of colour and low-income neighbourhoods, are disproportionately impacted by climate change.

These communities frequently bear the brunt of pollution, climatic calamities, and environmental deterioration, which exacerbates already existing inequalities and injustices.

Moreover, our society is becoming more and more concerned with mental health. Anxiety, depression, and other mental diseases are common problems that many people face.

However, due to the restricted availability and high cost of mental health care, access to services and resources is frequently unequal, leaving many people without the required support and care.

It is impossible to overestimate the painful effects of inequality in our society. It exacerbates social inequality, undermines confidence, and obstructs the development of a just and inclusive society.

Systemic change and concerted effort are needed to combat inequality. It entails speaking up in favour of laws and procedures that advance social fairness, environmental sustainability, equal access to high-quality education, and economic opportunity.

It also calls for confronting discriminatory attitudes and behaviours and encouraging empathy, understanding, and inclusivity in our communities.

I think that students may make a significant contribution to the fight against inequality. We can promote inclusivity and diversity in our classrooms, communities, and beyond by raising awareness, taking action, and advocating.

We can also make an effort to be aware of our own biases and privileges and endeavour to improve society by our deeds, attitudes, and behaviours.

In conclusion, from my perspective as a student, inequality stands out as the one issue that is the most upsetting for our society.

It has an effect on many facets of people’s life, sustains societal inequities, and obstructs the possibility of a just and inclusive society.

We can fight to create a more equitable, just, and inclusive society where everyone has the chance to flourish and realise their potential by recognising and tackling inequality in all of its forms. Together, let’s work to create a better future for everyone.
